Austin City Limits Music Festival Preview Day 3

So after experiencing Day 1 of ACL I learned that girls still like wearing tight white shirts that they sweat through which is A ok with me! I also learned that both old and young people don't know how to take care of themselves. Please everyone drink water and eat while you are out there; I saw at least two people pass out in front of me. Not cool. One last thing I noticed is that C3 is still over selling this festival. You could barely walk around the Barton Springs stage so I basically missed Alabama Shakes and M83. But this leads me to want to stop making fun of ACL for trying to become Coachella. ACL is now going to add a second weekend so hopefully this means they wont feel the need to oversell it and everyone can enjoy what they paid to see. I am just hoping they don't also add an ACL boat cruise. Trust me, no one wants to sail the seas of the dirty Gulf of Mexico! But who knows, maybe you'll get as stoned as Snoop Dog by the time it reaches Jamaica. Last time he was there he changed his name to Snoop Lion and said it was for the kids.I know that Trick Daddy loves the kids but he didn't start coming up with weird pedophile names. Although I guess a trick daddy can be considered creepy too.Anyone on to the acts.

A quick recap is that they are an indie pop band who uses the auto tuner. Sadly there's no T-Pain or songs about being on a boat but she actually has a amazing voice which is a nice compliment to the slow ambient music they produce.

Next up is The Weeknd. If you like Frank Ocean, then you'll also be down with Weeknd. You wont have to hear any love songs to other dudes but he brings the same raw passion that Ocean does to his music. It's not quite as grimy as R Kelly but there's some realness to this RnB act. Check him out

Next up is the main reason why I bought a three day pass again; Iggy and the Stooges!!!!! All of the retro rock bands that came out in the early 2000's like The Strokes or Jet are basically emulating Iggy Pop. If you don't know who they are do yourself a favor and pop in. They are from the late 60's and early 70's and bring awesome energy to the stage or like their most popular album says Raw Power. I felt like a dork just writing that but it was kind of necessary plus it's early and I'm hungover so this is what you get. But their music is simple and that's the point. Straight rock n roll with a crazy front man who may actually light himself on fire. If you decide to skip out on the The Weeknd and see Die Antwoord instead, you may actually see two unintentional suicides on stage back to back. Check them out.

After having my ass kicked by Iggy I will then make my way over to Alice and the Crystal Castles. I am crazy excited that this show is at night because this music is built for night time club dancing. Alice is also crazy! Maybe like last year's black out Friday, ACL decided to put all of the crazies on one day. They are thrashy goth dance music. But their music is all over the place; at one point you could be dancing to the perfect mix of 80's and today's electronic music on Not In Love and the next you're thrashing out to Fainting Spells. Do not miss this act! Especially for the corporate Childish Gambino, although he actually does have a few nice rhymes.

And of course Red Hot Chili Peppers will end it. I am not that big of a fan of theirs and I actually don't even own one of their albums but I somehow know every song they have ever released. And I find that I will reluctantly admit that I the majority of them so I can pretty much guarantee that I will be dancing right with the rest of you!
